Kaidu Scanner Location Guide
Selecting the right location for your Kaidu scanner is crucial to ensure accurate and consistent signal capture. This guide will help you understand the key considerations and common challenges when choosing a location.
Objective
Before positioning your scanner, identify the specific signals you intend to measure, as this will significantly influence the optimal location for your device. Placing the scanner too distant from the target area or in locations with high noise levels from passing traffic can compromise the accuracy of the measurements. Choose a location that minimizes these disruptions to ensure reliable data collection. Are we interested in people passing by, people in queues, the number of people who enter an area or traffic around a particular object or area?
Obstructions
Physical Barriers: Walls, furniture, and other substantial objects can obstruct and weaken wireless signals. To optimize signal strength, position the scanner in an area free from such barriers.
Electronic Interference: Nearby electronic devices can disrupt wireless connectivity. Ensure the scanner is placed away from potential sources of interference, such as Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, and cordless phones, to maintain signal integrity.
Power
Confirm that the selected location for your scanner has access to a nearby power outlet. If an outlet isn't available, consider utilizing extension cords or a power bank as alternative power sources. Kaidu Scanners are compatible with both 110/220V AC and 5V DC power. Often, DC power may be more practical to implement than AC power due to the smaller size of cables or specific local regulations.
Tempering and theft
Take precautions to ensure that scanners are secure and resistant to theft or tampering. It is advisable to fasten them securely or place them in concealed locations. Installing the scanners at a higher elevation can deter unauthorized access.
Additionally, consider painting the scanners to blend with their surroundings. For environmental protection, house the scanners in weatherproof plastic cases or position them behind objects that do not obstruct signal reception.
Signal Range & Positioning
Kaidu scanners are designed to detect signals in a circular pattern. Consider the scanner's effective range, such as 30 feet, to optimize its positioning.
Elevating the scanner can significantly enhance signal capture, particularly in crowded environments. We recommend positioning the scanner at least 5 feet above the floor when feasible. If there are floors above or below the scanner, remember that it is capable of capturing signals from all directions, including vertically.
After positioning, test the scanner to ensure it captures the desired signals effectively. Adjust the location or scanner range if necessary.
Environmental Conditions
Temperature, humidity, and other environmental conditions can affect signal strength. To ensure optimal performance, avoid positioning the scanner near heat sources or in areas prone to dampness. Kaidu Scanners are not weather resistant and care has to be taken when installing them in areas that are exposed to weather, water or extreme temperatures.
